Vesting is a lockup schedule that releases tokens gradually — team and investor allocations typically vest over 1–4 years instead of dumping on day one. It’s meant to align insiders with long-term holders.

Why it matters

Vesting schedules are future sell pressure with a date attached. A project can look fairly distributed today while 60% of supply unlocks for insiders over the next two years. Always read the unlock calendar before buying: you’re pricing in not just today’s supply, but tomorrow’s.
