A fair launch means no insiders got tokens first — no presale, no VC allocation, no team premine. Distribution happens through open mining, public farming, or airdrops anyone could join. Bitcoin is the archetype; most launches since are not.

Why it matters

“Fair” is crypto’s most diluted adjective — projects claim it while founders hold 30% via “ecosystem funds.” The verifiable version is on-chain: check genesis distribution, first-month holder spread, and whether insiders’ wallets were funded before the public could participate. Fairness you can’t audit is marketing.
